Lindsay Lohan wearing her SCRAM ankle bracelet(www.TMZ.com)

Ok, made you look.
I promise more on her at the end of this rant.

Here at Ipswitch, we strive to deliver technologies that are based on modern architectures such as SOA and patterns that live on that architecture such as EDA and WOA. We feel that this will enable our existing and future customers to leverage composition and interoperability for more agility, manageability, and control.

Like many before us, we struggle with delivering services (the technology kind) that will likely be used in ways we never intended. In some ways, this is the value of a loosely coupled architecture – shielding the user from implementation and allowing them to easily and deeply customize. And like many before us we have seen the dangers that are inherent from robust interfaces and APIs.

This is why the recent breach of AT&T of their 3G iPad accounts isn’t particularly shocking. How do you test for vulnerabilities when you can’t even begin to understand all the use cases? The answer is simple…you can’t.

You have to give your data the value (and associated risk levels) it deserves. Having a layer of data services that explicitly defines who, what, and how the data can be used creates higher levels of composition and customization at the application layer. This means that when someone jumps through 299 different scenarios to query your application/ interface, looking to exploit, there is another layer that is more constrained.

Now that I’ve geeked out on you all, let’s talk about how Lindsay Lohan’s SCRAM ankle monitor said she was drinking at the MTV Movie Awards when clearly she wasn’t.  Whoops! My character count is way over the li…
