Please consider this as an open invitation to any of the hip-hop superstars such as Diddy, Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, Eminem, Eve, Lil Kim, 50 Cent, or Lil Wayne. For many years we have seen you openly endorse alcoholic beverages, athletic shoes, clothing lines, and most recently headphones. As the Vice President of global strategy at Ipswitch, I would like to offer our services as payment for an open endorsement of our technologies.
Recently, hip-hop impresario Dr. Dre commented on the numerous leaks of his yet unfinished masterpiece, “Detox”. Apparently quite a few unfinished compositions featuring guest appearances by various superstars made their way onto the web and subsequently onto various mixed tapes in the market. This leak not only diminishes Dr. Dre’s ability to overwhelmingly surprise the hip-hop world with his new beats and sounds, it enables wannabe music critics to critique a novel that is neither complete nor commercially available. Simply put, it’s bad for business. And what was the cause of this leak?
So, apparently the good doctor was using e-mail as a collaboration tool when, quite frankly, it was never meant to be a collaborative tool. In his efforts to elicit feedback from the various people involved with the creation of an album, his e-mail account was infiltrated and, subsequently, new music was leaked. The total cost of the leak is undetermined. Suffice it to say that Interscope Records will put a ton of money behind this album and they will now have to tweak their marketing and promotion activities and budgets.
